Wellington, August 25. The House sat till tbree o'clock tins morning, great efforts being made on all sides to expedite business. TOBRENS's SYSTEM! OP LAND TRANSFER BILL. On the motion of Mr Pox, the second reading of the Land Transfer Bill, according to Torrens's system, was carried. THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL SUBSIDY INCREASED TO £40,000. The House, in Committee, agreed to Mr Yogel's proposal to increase the vote for the mail service to San Francisco to £40,000, the steamers being ocean steamers, to call at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, and not proceeding to Australia. BILLS ADVANCED. On Wednesday, a great number of bills passed through Committee, and others were advanced various stages. ADJUSTMENT OF REPRESENTATION BILL. A long discussion took place on the Adjustment of Representation Bill, but it eventually passed as proposed by the Government, and as recommended by the Sub-Committee which considered it. Wellington City lost one member, which was given to Wairarapa. [There was some obscurity in this sentence of the telegram, and we are not sure that this is the proper meaning as to Wellington and Wairarapa.—Ed.] MARRIED WOMEN'S PROPERTY BILL. This bill was read a first time. All measures are being rapidly adopted, and all opposition has mutually ceased. A long string of unimportant motions were agreed to this (Thursday) afternoon.
