EXPORTS. Per Lyttelton, for Greymouth, short landed at Westport—2oo sheep, 20 pigs, 10 bags potatoes, Freeth and Greig. Per Charles Edward, for Hokitika boxes gold, Bank of New Zealand. The schooner Crest of the Wave has sailed from Dunedin for this port with a general cargo, consigned to Mr John Corr. The p.s. Charles Edward left Nelson at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and experienced shortly after her departure strong head winds, which increased towards nightfall to a strong S.W. gale, accompanied by heavy sea. She arrived off the Buller an hour too late for the tide, and crossed the bar this morning at five o'clock, and sailed the same evening for Hokitika. The Charles Edward will sail on Thursday at 5 p.m. for Nelson and Wanganui, at which port she will be chartered by Messrs Freeth and Greig, and will be loaded with cattle and sheep for West Coast pets. She will leave Wanganui on Monday next. The s.s. Murray was to leave Greymouth yesterday evening for Westport, and will Bail for Nelson this morning at eight o'clock. The p.s. Lyttelton left Wanganui on Thursday, and arrived at Westport on Saturday, landing her cargo of cattle and sheep without the loss of a single head. She proceeded to Greymouth on Monday morning with the balance of her freight, arriving at the latter port the following tide. The ketch Woodquest sailed ■ from Nelson on the 13th instant for Charleston, and arrived off the bay, but was uoable to make the entrance. While anchored outside she lost a chain and anchor, and ran for Westport, where she arrived on the 20th. She has taken in some cargo for Charleston, and will sail for that port probably to-day. The schooner Aspasia cleared at the Customs yesterday for Picton. She has completed ballasting, and will sail by first opportunity.

The schooner To put in an appearance again in the roadstead yesterday evening, having put to sea on Friday in consequence of the rough weather. She will probably be towed in by the Murray this morning. The s.a. Wallabi is now undergoing a complete overhaul, and her bottom plates are being renewed from stem to stern. Her improvements will be completed within a fortnight, and she is expected to leave for Wanganui and the West Coast on the sth prox. The s.s. Storm Bird is to leave Wellington to-night for Picton, Nelson, Wanganui, and Manukau.

The N.Z.S.N. Company's steamers Wellington and Ahuriri are at present advertised for sale.

The barque Constance arrived at Auckland, from Sydney, on August 14. She brought 60 passengers, principally discharged men from the 18th Regiment, who, with their wives and families, come to settle in this Colony. The s.s. Wonga Wonga, which left Auckland on August 7th, with the English mail via San Francisco, took sixty-five passengers. Respecting the sad accident which caused the sinking of tho Tauranga, through the negligence of the master of the coal ketch Enterprise, we find that the owner of the Enterprise was fined £IOO, or three months' imprisonment, for not carrying lights. The captain was fined £lO, or one month's imprisonment. The fines were not paid, and the parties went to gaol. A London telegram, bearing date of June 23rd, states: —" Six survivors of the Mercury, from San Francisco, lost off tho Brazilian coast, have been brought here. They wero rescued off a desert island, upon which they remained fifty days." The s.s. Lord Ashley, for the safety of which there were fears, arrived at Auckland on August 7. The following shows that she had a very rough passage : —On Thursday, the 4th, tho wind increased to a strong gale, accompanied with thunder and lightning, and heavy rain; 11.30 a.m., East Capo bore W.N.W., high sea running ; at noon, bore up and anchored under East Cape, barometer 28.80; violent squalls throughout the day and night; on Friday, sth, it moderated a little ; at noon, weighed and proceeded round the Cape, ship laboring heavily, wind N.W., increasing; bore up again anchored at 2.30 p.m. samo day; terrific squills throughout the day and night." The Firth of Clyde, a handsome iron vessel of 7,00 tons register, was launched on May 18, from the yard of Messrs M'Culloch, Patterson, and Co., Port Glasgow. She is owned by Messrs A. and J. Brown, of Greenock, and chartered by Messrs Aitken, Lillburn, and Co., Glasgow, for New Zealand, under the command of Captain J. Dodds. The number of wrecks reported for the present year, up to June 11, is 839.

The Painpero, of Aberdeen (Morriee), sailed from Newcastle, N.S.W., on August 30, 1869, with coals for Shanghai, and has not since been heard of.
