SALMON FOR THE BULLER.

{To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sib, —For several months during last summer the Harbor-master, acting under instructions from Government, took observations of the temperature of the Buller river, with a view of ascertainiug its adaptability for the introduction of salmon into its waters. As a long period of time has elapsed since that gentleman's labors with the above object ceased, and as no sign has been made at headquarters during the interval, I wish to ask, through the medium of your columns, whether the Government purposes publishing a report on the foregoing important subject, and, if so, when it may be looked for ? I have no doubt many of your readers besides myself have been and still are anxiously waiting the decision, as to whether the Buller, in connection with other West Coast rivers, is adapted for the required purpose, and think it strange no mention has yet been made of furnishing information on a point of so much interest to the present and which seems to promise so much good in the future.—l am, yours, obediently, Piscatoe. [The Harbor Master took obseivations twice daily for twelvemonths pursuant to instructions, and discontinued the same upon receipt of notice.—Ed. W. T."J
