MORE LIGHT.
(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sir.—Would you be kind enough to inform me, through the medium of your valuable journal, whether the licensed publicans are not expected to keep a light over their door at night, if so, I think our ex-member should be reminded of his duty. Our thriving township can boast of only two licensed houses, neither of which burns a light outside; 1 think they should do so, especially as the street is in very bad condition, with two or three very large holes where the ground has caved in through the lower workings. One large hole is exactly opposite a certain licensed house, it is ten feet deep, and I have known several pedestrians disappear in its depths to the immiuent danger of life and limb. Some of our citizens repair the thoroughfare at tl e'r own expense in front of their residences, and one of our storekeepers employed men, for several days, to make the road passable and safe for some distance on either side of his store.—Tours, &c, E.
