The 8.8. Kennedy sailed for Hokitika on Sunday last, and will probably reach Westport from Greymouth this evening. The ketch Standard sailed for Karamea and "West Wanganui yesterday morning. The ketch Amateur, •while leaving the Karamea for Westport, went ashore, the wind haying failed her while crossing the bar. She is uninjured, and is expected to be got off in a few days. The schooner Northern Light arrived in the roadstead from Melbourne yesterday morning, and will be towed in to-day on the arrival of the Lionesß from Hokitika. The schooner Sarah and Mary, from Westport, to Melbourne, arrived at the latter port on the 22nd ult. We understand that it is intended to place the steamer Lyttelton in the Collingwood coal trade, so soon as the mine is in full working order. She is calculated to carry 100 tons coals on a draught of 4ft. 9in. The s.s. John Penn is telegraphed as having left Wanganui for Westport early on Sunday •morning, and was consequently due here last night. Up to the hour of going to press she had not arrived off the port, and it may be presumtd that her passage is protracted by had weather encountered on the eastern side •of Cook Strait. The steamer Storm Bird was expected to cleave Wellington to-day for Wanganui, and in; such case maybe expected to arrive at Weßtport to-morrow.
