DEPARTURE OF MR. KYNNERSLEY.

PBOCEEDINGS in the COUNCIL. (BY ELEOTBIO TELEGRAPH.) (from ofe own cobrespondent.) Nelson, Monday. Mr Kynnersley left Nelson for Westport per steamer Charles Edward to-day. He is to endeavor to preserve the town from further encroachment of the sea. In the Council, Mr Gribhs called for an inquiry into the accidents the in Brunner Coal Mine, and considered it desirable to introduce a new Licensing Ordinance. Mr O'Connor brought forward the question of opening up the Mount Eochfort Coal Mine, the necessity of utilising gaol labor, and an amended Licensing Ordinance. Mr A. Beid tabled notices of motion providing for the bridging of the Buller river at its junction with the LyelL, a road from Lyell to the reefs at Irishman's creek, and the purchase of the Orawaiti Bridge by the Government preparatory to its being thrown open to the public.
