The s.s. Kennedy left Nelson on Monday, at. N p.m., and arrived alongside the wharf at Westport the following day at 6 p.m. Discharged a portion of her cargo, consisting chiefly of produce, and proceeded with the balance to Ilokitika and Greymouth yesterday evening. The Kennedy is announced to leave Westport for Nelson on Saturday, and on her arrival at the latter port will be placed on the slip previous to her hull being thoroughly ■overhauled.

The Charleston traders, Constant and Standard, returned to Westport on Tuesday, haying succeeded in entering Charleston and discharging cargo on Monday. Some doubts were entertained as to the condition in which they would land their respective cargoes after encountering the very severe weather of Saturday night, but, we understand, they were delivered in perfect order.

Pour casks blacksand and 150 hides constituted the exports per Maid of Erin, for Melbourne.

The schooner Falcon, of New Plymouth has been wrecked at Opuneke. The vessel drove from her anchors while waiting to land stores and plant for the Cape Egmont and < Spuneke Flax Company. Nearly all her cargo was saved.

The s.s. City of Melbourne is announced to leave Auckland for San Francisco, with the overland European mail, on May 4th. Tenders close to-day at Wellington for the purchase of the steam-fleet and other property of the New Zealand Steam Navigation Company. The vessels consist of the Wellington, 305 tons; Rangatira, 218 tons; Ahuriri, 184 tons ; Storm Bird, 90 tons ; and Lady Bird, 323 tons.

The SoatJiern Cross of the 2nd inst. gives the following particulars of the new mail route between Auckland and London :—" The time occupied in the trip to England will be as follows:—Auckland to Honolulu, 14 days; Honolulu to San Francisco, 10 days; San Francisco to New York (by rail) b' days ; New York to Liverpool and London, 0 days ; total, 40 days' travelling. The fares from Auckland to Sa» Francisco will be—saloon, .£3l; second cabin, £25 ; intermediate, £lB j and across the Continent of America by the Central Pacific Railroad, £'lo ; beds and provisions costing about £4- extra. Passages from New York to England can be had by the Cunard line—saloon, £22; second cabin, £lO. The luman line—saloon, £IG; second cabin, £B. Passengers can thus get home by this route for £65 in the saloon, £"47 in the second cabin, and £4O in the intermediate. Arrangements can also be made with the railway for the issuing of tickets available for two months. As yet no arrangements have been made to book right through ; but negotiations arc being carried on, and it is probable that shortly through tickets will be issued from New Zealand lo England."
