THE WANGAPEKA LAND SALES.
ME. DOMETT'S EEPOET. THE SALES DECLAEED ILLEGAL. (BYELECTRIC TELECBAPR.) (from our own correspondent.) Nelson, Friday. The inquiry into the sale of auriferous land at Wangapeka which has been held by Mr Domett was concluded yesterday afternoon. Mr Domett, at the conclusion of the inquiry, delivered an able and elaborate report on the subject. He declared the sales of land to be illegal and void. It is, of course, open to purchasers to appeal to the Supreme Court, but ifc is not supposed that that will be done. The public generally are pleased with the result. Napier, Dec. 20. The Government received a despatch stating the Plying Squadron will arrive at Auckland on the Ist February. The New Zealand Insurance Company have declared a dividend of ten per cent., and placed £6OOO to the Profit and Loss Account. The Eighteenth Regiment is to be moved. There is no option in the matter. Eewi sent Aporo, a Bang's messenger, to tell Te Kooti to remain quiet. Te Kooti replied—" Ido not recognise the King, and will go on to Tokanganiutu." On hearing this, the King ordered his people to collect together.
