Our columns have lately been so much occupied by correspondence and by reports of local matters that we prefer in the present number to supply some news. Tim will account to such correspondents as Mr Sheahan for the temporary non-appearance of Lis letter on the Addison's Plat school and schools in general; to " Civis " for the omission of his letter in approval of our article on the charlatan treatment of the Charleston manslaughter; to " Scrutator " for the postponement of his slaughter of Mr Curtis ; and to our friends, Messrs Gibbons and Black, of the Northern Terraces, for the delay of their letter written in excellent humor, but in very bad ink, on their impracticable theory as to the manner ol conducting a newspaper on "the West Coast.
