A CAUTION TO PARENTS.
(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sir, —Permit me space in your valuable paper to caution parents of children in reference to the dangerous amusement lately adopted by them when playing on the beach in the evenings—I mean that of standing on logs within the line of surf, and waiting until the heavy breakers almost touch them before they beat a hasty retreat. Now I don't think there would be any danger in this if it were only practised by boys—for they are generally capable of taking care of themselves. But it is chiefly girls who patronise this style of play, and it encourages a lot of very young children to follow their dangerous example. lam quite sure, Mr Editor, if you saw this sport carried on yourself, you would admit the necessity for this caution before some fatal accident happens. Trusting you will not think the danger magnified, I remain, respectfully, Jeanie. "Westport, Dec. 2.
