MINING INCIDENTS.

NEW RUSH TTP TIIE GREY. Another important rush is reported by the Argus to have taken place up the Grey river—this time to a terrace situated between the head of the righthand branch of Duffer's and Sullivan's Gullies. It is in the same line of country as the Gladstone Terrace, and the workings are of the same description. DUFFER RIT3II AT HOKITIKA. About three hundered men proceeded to the ground, up the Hokitika river, where Bouchier and party got a prospecting claim. The W. O. Times of Tuesday says: —Never, since the duffer rush to Bruce Bay, has there been such a hoax perpetrated as that of the last rush up the Hokitika river. We can scarcely conceive that anyone possessed of a grain of humanity could have been so base to his fellow-man as is shown in the cruel hoax just brought to light. THE TAIPO REEF. Mr O'Connor, mining surveyor, has visited the Taipo reef. He states the prospecting claim is situated on a ridge known as Kelly's Hill, and the surface above the reef is at an elevation of 4450 feet above the sea level, and will be best reached by tunnels. The cost of one such tunuel, from face of hill, say 400 feet under the surface, and driven to line supposed to be followed by reef, would be about £I2OO to £ISOO. THE THAMES. It is stated by telegraph that a new leader has been struck in the Long Drive claim, at the Thames, and is exceedingly rich. Between October 13th and November 18th, the gold deposited from the Long Drive claim amounted to 4240 ozs., valued at £II,OOO.
