To Tlong Kong, I say, with Curtis and Gibbs. The Electors they won't ask to dinner, And though Curtis can write, he can't right the State, Nor will Gibbs' eggs suit you this summer. There's Akersten too, but he'll never do, Or diddle this shifting community, To catch you with chaff, or put salt on somewhere You won't give him —the least opportunity. No doubt thimbles and ropes and marlin spikes, In a port, are most safe things to deal in ; But Provincial ships are "kittle " to sail, When they want a complete over-haulm'. In this country as squatters don't smear their sheep, And do not have tar on their fingers, I'd give them a chance, at nice bits of work, Not forgetting the diggers—the sinners. Fifty acres I'd give to each man on the Coast, If ten tons of potatoes he'd grow, To the farmers up north, to compensate the loss, The Dry Dock population I'd show. As shavers by shaving strengthen their beards, I'd imrove the clip of the stations, The miners I'd show where to hit on the lead, And creditors teach to.have patience. The Coming Man.
