The Westport Times. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1869.
The receipt of a mouth's English news is always a welcome break in the monotony of intelligence in such a com parative Ultima Thide as the West Coast, but, in a local and professional point of view, it happens on this occasion rather inconveniently. The editorial craving to fill this column with what editorial vanity is weak enough to consider the most important part of a newspaper, is a craving which cannot be satisfied. Correspondents also—even such a good correspondent as the gentleman who does duty for us in that capacity at Wellington—must be sacrificed. And local reports—of Courts, Coroner's inquests, and deputations must do deference to more strange, if not superior, subjects. In our telegram of English intelligence there is no item of extraordinary interest, but it is, more than usual, a well digested summary of domestic incidents.
