The excitement caused by the rush to Auckland seems to have subsided, and orders from the diggings are coming in more freely. The arrival of the Mary from Melbourne with a large general cargo has equalised the prices iu some lines that were getting short. Flour has advanced about 60s. We quote Hart's Adelaide at £22; interprovincial at from £l9 to £2O. Oats l ave also advanced, and are now firm at 5s Gd. Chaff is in full supply. A consignment of Victorian, ex Mary, was quoted at £l4 10s at auction. Potatoes are dull of sale and prices nominal. Butter— This article is scarce, and for prime samples Is 4d to Is 5d is obtainable. Hams and bacon are not much in demand. There is no English cure in the market, and Colonial may he quoted at from !)d to Is according to quality. In wines and spirits there is a steady trade doing and prices firm. Wo quote llennessv's case brandy at 56s Gd ; MarteU's do, at 55? ; J.D.K.Z. geneva, full contents, at 5Ss, In tobacco there is little doing. Teas are moving off in trade parcels, but stocks heavy. Sugars arc firm. The following may be quoted as the ruling prices : —Company's 2nd white, 5Gs to 575; white Mauritius crystals, 545; brown and yellow crystals, 50s to 525. Kerosene is steady at 3s 6d. Candles are a little firmer. We quote Neva Co.'s at Is lid; other brands Is to Is id. In oilmen's stores generally we have little alteration to note. Prices are well maintained, but demand is limited to daily requirements. Condensed milk is scarce, and may now be quoted at 17s. CHARLESTON. Messrs Dwan, Ilennelly, and Co. report the followingprices as ruling during the week: —Potatoes, .£6 10s. Oats have risen tofis (id and 7s. The week previous they could be had for 5s 6d, and a parcel was disposed of at 5s 3d, but recent advices, with the knowledge of light stocks, have caused the rise. Bran Is quotable at 2s fid. Cluiff (Christchurch), xl 7 10s. Provincial dour (light, stocks), ifilG. Carrots, X 7. Colonial hams, Is 6d ; and Colonial bacon, Is Id. Canterbury butter, Is 5d ; fresh has been sold by auction at Is Bd. The Black Bull Hotel will be offered to-day by auction, and the Charleston Hotel on the 7th inst. Messrs D. Isaacs and Co. are to sell, on Tuesday, the sth inst , the schooner Three Friends, now lying at Fox's River, Brighton. Mkm;orrne.—By the Tararua advices from Melbourne are to the 28th ult.:—Flour is quoted at £l6 10s ; wheat at 8s Gd ; oats, 5s 6d ; maize dull at 5s 4d. New season's teas are offering, but sales are slow. A carco of kauri pine, per Mary Frances, lias been placed at 12s. Candles are firm ; opium, 25s to 25s 6d. Adei.aide.—The corn market is quiet, and prices nominal.
