The cutter Harry Bluff returned on Thursday from the Kararuea and Little Wanganui rivers, where she landed twelve tons of goods, as supplies for the diggings there. Sho stayed at the Little Wanganui about twelve hours, and at the Karamea one day. She brought as passengers the two Maoris, who have been engaged at the Karamea for some months past, besides two tons of potatoes and some live stock.
In some quotations from Hansard which were published in these columns in our last number, Mr Dillon Bell was represented to l;:ive said tlv.it there are 140 ports of entry in New Zealand, as compared with 17 in New South Wales and 14 in Victoria. Such is the statement as it appears in the reports, but it is obviously a mistake. Wo do not know the correct number, but believe there can scarcely be more than 30 ports of entry in the Colony. The schooner Ann, from Sydney, bound to Melbourne, with a cargo of pine logs, was wrecked on Flinder'a Island on the 28th ult. It was dark at the time sho went on shore, the beach was very rocky, and it was with very great difficulty the captain and crew got oa" shore. They afterwards succeeded in reaching Settlement Point, where Mr Gardiner received them kindly, and conveyed them in his own boat to the Tamar Heads, at great risk to his own life, as the trip occupied one day and two nights.
