PROCEEDINGS IN THE ASSEMBLY.
THE CORN DUTIES. (BY ELECTBIG TELEGRAPH.) (From the NeUon Colonist.) Wsllingtoit, Monday. The House of Representatives was engaged in discussing, all this afternoon, the resolution respecting the proposed tax on grain and flour. The motion was proposed by Mr Pox, and the debate will be resumed to-night. It is expected that the resolution will be defeated, but the question is not viewed a3 a Ministerial one. The Native Lands Court gave a decision this afternoon in favor of the Ngatiapa tribe, thus fully justifying the action of Dr Featherston in connection with the dispute between the two tribes. Dr Featherston arrived at the Bluff, from Melbourne, this afternoon, per Gothenburg. Mr Yogel's constituents of Lawrence have asked him to resign his seat. The Legislative Council intend attempting to defeat the Ghoorka resolutions ; the result is uncertain. The session is expected to close within a fortnight.
