HOSPITAL SUBSCRIPTIONS.

(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sie, —I read in your issue of Thursday last, that the Hospital Committee had determined on sending Mr Haskins to the Northern Terraces to collect subscriptions. I believe the majority of the miners in this part of the district consider ifc a very unwise course to pursue. When a miner is able and willing to subscribe to the Hospital he will find a channel through which to pass his subscription without the possibility of its suffering a reduction of 10 per cent. If tho members of the Committee would appoint some of the miners to collect subscriptions they would find men who would do it cheerfully without any remuneration. —Tours &c, J. W. W. Hatter's Terrace.
