(From the TJ'cst Coast Times.) Nelson, July 26. The Airedale was detained two days at Manukau Heads. She brings papers up to Thursday. They contain news of Te Kooti's progress and of Natives joining him, seemingly leading up to intelligence received from Napier! A telegram received at Auckland from Alexandra states that on the 21st inst. Te Kooti robbed Hettit's storo that morning, and threatens Waikato. Hettit's store is near Tokaugamatu. Eewi is with Te Kooti. Hettit married one of the most influential women of the Ngamauiapotos. A Taranaki letter savs that letters have been received there by the last English Mail from Colonel Warrc, stating that the 18th Regiment was to remain in the Colony, and we may expect another regiment from Home. It is reported that the Natives near the Stoney River have held a meeting for the purpose of enquiring if the new Government mean to give back all the confiscated lands. Napier, July 26. More revolting cannibalism has been perpetrated by Hau Haus. A board has been discovered where Lieutenants White and Travera were buried, bearing the following inscription :—" Friends, we Lave disinterred
the bodies of the Europeans. I have eaten them. Pakehas are very fat.— Tamai Kowhtti." The out-Iyimj districts here are in a perilous position. The detachment of the 2-18 th are under orders to proceed to Auckland on the 15th of August. Splendid returns have been obtained from the Long Drive claim. About 400 stones were crushed, which yielded 203Gozs of retorted gold. Some stones were reserved from crushing on account of their marvellous richness. A crushing, which lasted fifteen days, yielded 45750zs of cjold. A perfect wall of gold, it is said, has been struck in Hunt's claim. 120 Armed Constabulary start on Wednesday for Haroto to protect the out-posts.
