CHARLESTON.
(fROJI OITR OWX CORRESPONDENT.) . : July 29. A serious accident happened this afternoon to Mr Taylor, of the Casino de Veuise, who was out shooting with three other gentlemen. They had taken a boat intending to go some distance up the Nile, and had got some little distance up the river, when their boat ran on a snag, and in their attempt to get her off something struck the hammer of one of the fowling-pieces, which immediately exploded, lodging the whole of the charge in Mr Taylor's legs. The unfortunate gentleman was conveyed into_ town without loss of time, and medical attendance was at once procured. The schooner Wild Wave, and the cutter Ann left the harbour on the morning's tide. The Wild Wave proceeds to Melbourne for a cargo via Greymouth. Several coasting crafts are expected here daily, with stores and produce. The steamer Waipara arrived off the port this afternoon, having in tow the Constant. After casting off she proceeded to the southward, and the Constant- came into harbour. She brings a full general cargo. The lecture given by Mr Broad in the court-house this evening was well attended; and the subjects "submitted to the audience engrossed their entire attention, the selections being varied and entertaining, especially "American traits of Character," "Bill Sykes's
dinner party," by Dickens, and the " Coronation of Queen Victoria," in a Milesian point of view. After a vote of thanks to the lecturer, the chairman, the Eev. Mr Flavel, intimated that, from the encouragement given to the meetings, their continuation was most desirable, and the next would be held a fortnight hence.
