Mr M'Lean's motion respecting the sending of Commissioners to England, to apply to the Home Government for troops for the defence of the Colony, was carried last night by a majority of six. Three of the majority were Maori members. The share-holders of the New Zealand Steam Navigation Company have decided against the winding up of the Company by a majority of 113 to 77. Some splendid specimens of alluvial gold, found about three miles out of Wellington, have been brought into town to-day, and the late excitement on the subject of a goklfield in the neighborhood has naturally considerably increased.
