The Westport Times. SATURDAY, JULY 10, 1869.
I.v consequence of the length of our Wellington correspondent's letter, Ave dispense with any " leading article." Had we the space for one, we should be disposed to notice our correspondent's reference to the formation of the Fox Ministry, and especially his reference to one of its members, Mr Vogel. We allow our correspondent to express his own opinion, and, uufortunatuly, what is apparently the opinion of a considerable section of the Press with regard to Mr Vogel; but we take the liberty of dissenting from it, and of giving our humble opinion that a more sincerely earnest, hardworking, pains-taking, and, in a high sense, able politician and financier than Mr Yogel could not be readily found in IS T ew Zealand. "We believe that, as in Otago, so in the Colony, it only requires time to illustrate what force of character and real merits Mr Yogel has, to enable him to overcome unfavorable prejudice, and to enable him to assert his deserved position as a politician aud as the member of a Government.
