(FEOII OUIt OWX COTtRESrOXDEXT ) "WEiitNTOTOK, Friday. Mr Fox has tabled notice of a motion of want of confidence in the Ministry. The announcement was received with cheers from both sides of the House.

Mr Stafford rose immediately, and stated that he had resolved, on Tuesday next, to give notice of certain resolutions embodying the Native policy of the Government; but after the notice wbich had been given, he should withhold them until the Government knew its position in the House and with the country. He would offer no opposition to the discussion of the want of confidence motion. The result is doubtful. Major St John's forces, stationed at Opepe, near Taupo, were surprised by the Hau-Haus on tbe Sth inst., and nine of bis officers and men were killed. The following is a list of tbose who were killed : Lieutenant Ross and Ensign Lawson, of the Auckland Militia. Sergeant Dette and Trooper Cook of the Bay of Plenty Yolunteers. Sergeant Slattery, and Troopers Johnson, Poictiers, Bidoes, and Gill, of the Tauranga Constabulary. j

Ward has been committed for trial at Blenheim for stealing a cash-box containing £OO from the telegraph office. Latest dates from Patea are to the 2nd instant. Another expedition had returned after burning several villages. The enemy are visible. The natives at Napier refuse to work under Colonel Whitmore.
