In the Provincial Council, yesterday, the motion proposed by Mr Eeid for a subsidy for a steamer at the Buller was carried, as amended, the subsidy being fixed at £OOO a year. Mr Luckie seconded the motion, and in doing so said the mover had shown a good ease. Mr Hcnnelly's motion for £ISOO for a dray-road from Westport to Charleston, via Addison's Plat, was opposed by Mr Eeid, and was not passed.
