Ertz Hentzzoog Steofen THE NELSON HOTEL, MONDAY EVENING, The 3rd May. NELSON SOUTH-WEST GOLDFIELDS. BY Proclamation under the hand of the Superintendent, from and after the Ist June next, clauses 2 and 3 of Section VIII. of the Eules and Regulations of the Nelson South-West Goldfields are repealed, and the following clauses are substituted for the same : 2. Tunnelling. Persons engaged in tunnelling to strike gold may be protected in the occupancy of a claim of a depth of 1,000 feet from the mouth of the tunnel, and a frontage of the length allowed in ordinary claims by Section IL Clause 1. 3. Registration and Masking. Claims under the preceding Clause must be registered (after application, and the posting of notices in the manner provided in Section 1X.,) and the boundaries marked and maintained by rows of pegs placed not more than 50 feet apart, and such pegs shall be at right angles with the frontage of the hill, along the entire depth allowed. Provided that when from the irregularity of the face of the hill, or from any other difficulty arising from the nature of the ground, the claim cannot be advantageously marked out in accordance with the above regulations, it shall be lawful for the Warden, eiti er after a personal inspection of the ground, or a report on the subject by a Surveyor, to define a base line from which any claim or claims may be marked out, instead of from the face of the hill, to the depth of 1,000 feet, or less, at the discretion of the Warden. Parcels and Letters delivered throughout the Charleston and Brighton districts with punctuality, on reasonable terms. Letters and Parcels left at the Post Office Hotel, Westport, or Weitzell's European Hotel, Charleston, will be punctually attended to.
