Per Bruce, from Nelson—Messrs Corr, John, Uilderbrand, Harris, Clark, Hammond, Rolling, Kingsland, Trimble, Kerr, Woodhead, Blacklock, Crewdson, Turner, Brown, Mrs Trimble ; and 5 in the steerage. IMPORTS. Per Bruce, from Nelson—G bales chaff, Powell and Co; 4 pkgs machinery, Smyth and Co ; 1 pkge tweed, M'liinley. A new flagstaff ba3 been erected by tbe Harbor Department on the north bank of the river, and during the past few days a shelter shed or look-out house ha 3 been built alongside. Tho erection of both are very necessary works, as the Harbor Master will now be enabled to telegraph to ships outside, or to the signalman on the south beach without undertaking, as formerly, the trouble and sometimes risk of crossing the river. The p.s. Bruce arrived in the river on Friday morning from Nelson, and is announced to leave for Nelson on Sunday. Wo understand that tho p.s. Charles Edward is about to proceed to Sydney, where she will undergo eome repairs in tho shape of a new keel, &e. It is probable that she will first proceed to Greymouth to coal and go direct from that port. A new steamer is at present being built in Sydney for the engines of the p.s. Nelson, and will, it is expected, be completed in a month or two, when Messrs N. Edwards and Co. will have three boats at their disposal for the coasting trade. Tho p.s. Bruce left the wharf yesterday at 3.30 p.m. for tho south, but found the water on. the bar too shallow, and had to return to the wharf until tho tide commenced to flow. She left at five o'cloek. Hoeitiak.—April 23—Nilo, for Taranaki, via Greymouth, Wellington.—April 22 Lyttelton, for Napier; Wellington, for Napier. CHARLESTON. The ketch Constant reached Charleston yesterday morning at six o'clock, having had a 'ight fair wind down. She was expected to have loft again for Westport last evening. IMPORTS. Per Constant, from Westport —2O bags oats, 12 do potatoes, 6 do bran, D. Henderson ; 29 mats sugar, 3 packages do, P. Allen ; 10 bags oats, Gardiner; 12 kegs butter, 13 bags potatoes, Maginn ; 6 casks stout, 2 do T ale, 3 do stout, G bags potatoes, 1 cask currants, 2 cases caudles, Bridson ; 34 pieces machinery, Parsons and Co ; 30 bags potatoes, 10 do chaff, Gardiner; 4 bales chaff, Rimmer and Fordor.
