It was the intention to hare despatched the Bruce from this port for Nelson on Tuesday, but it blew half a gale, and there was a heavy surf on the bar. By Wednesday morning, the wind had changed and abated, and, although there was still a heavy sea on, she sailed, taking with her a number of passengers proceeding to " see the Duke." The s.s. Kennedy was only able to get into Hokitiko on Tuesday morning. She loft yesterday, and may he expected here to-day. The s.s. Wanguuni, with a cargo of cattle from Wanganui, was expected to arrive here yesterday, but up to a late hour she had not made her appearance. It will probably be some days before we have a steamer from Nelson, as they are likely to be engaged in bringing passengers from Motneka and other places to Nelson, and in conveying visitors from Nelson to 11.M.5. Galatea or Challenger during the Duke's visit. The steamer Charles Edward was to leave Kelson last evening for Ilokitika direct, calling at Westport on her return trip only. (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.)
