HOKITIKA RACES.
The Hokitika race-meeting commenced on Tuesday, the 30th inst. The following has been telegraphed to the Greymouth Star as the result of that day's racing:— TEIAL STAKES. Of 30 sovs. Open to all horses. Weight for age. One mile and-a-half. Entrance, 3 sovs. Nebula 1 Cossack 2 Flying Jib drew up before the conclusion of the race. H.T7BDLE EACE Of 50 sovs. Open to all horses. Weight for age. One mile and-a-half. Entrance, 5 sovs. Don Pedro 1 Q-amester 2 Blink Bonny ran off the course. The Don was hard run by Gamester. DISTANCE HANDICAP TROTTING EACE, Of 20 sovs. Welter weights for age. Three miles. Entrance, 2 sovs. Eosebud, with 440 yards start, 1 Gentle Annie 300 yards behind at finish.
TOWN PLATE,
Of 75 sovs. Open to all horses. Weight for age. Two miles. Entrance, 1\ sovs. Flying Jib 1 Backbiter 2 Nebula 3 The attendance on the course was not numerous. Large sums changed hands on the Trotting Eace. Flying Jib lost his backers several pots of money.
