Per Bruce, from Greymouth—2o tons coal, for the Beautiful Star. Per Kennedy, from Hokitika and Greymouth —8 barrels ale, Organ. The steamer Bruce, which is now to be regularly employed in the West Coast trade, arrived at midnight from Greymouth and Hokitika, and an hour or two afterwards the Kennedy, from the same places, entered the port. The Kennedy had some difficulty in entering and leaving Hokitika, the channel being at present both shallow and crooked—so much so that none but a double-screw boat like the Kennedy can safely enter. The Charles Edward, which is a paddle-boat, has not been able to do so. The s.s. Murray, which had arrived oo Thursday morning, from Nelson, sailed on the midnight tide for the south. The s.s. "Waipara is at present undergoing an overhaul and being re-painted at Hokitika. The Greymouth and Hokitika portion of the cargo of the Beautiful Star was transhipped to the p.s. Bruce, which also brought ooal for her from Greymouth. The Hokitika bar is in such a state that it ia probable that the Murray and Charles JJdward will return hither direct from Greymouth. A Limited Liability Company has been •tarted in Wellington for the recovery of the wreck of the steamer Taranaki. The Oineo was to sail yesterday from Greymouth to Melbourne. The Tararua sails on the 26th. The Rangitoto is expected to sail on the 24th for Nelson and the cast coast. It is said that a new steamship line is soon to go into operation on the Pacific. Firstclass steamers are to ply between San Francisco and Australia by way of Honolulu, the Fiji Islands, and around the south of New Caledonia to Sydney.
