LATEST MOVEMENTS OP THE MAORIS. {BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.) (from our own correspondent.) VTellington, Friday. News has been received here to-dav, to the effect that the Maori King has declined to engage in the war. A report to the same effect is current in Napier. A Native messenger from Taupo arrived at "Wanganui on the Bth inst., bearing letters for the Hau-Hau Chiefs along the coast. Some say that the King, in his letter, endorsed the acts of rebellion on the part of the Hau-Haus. Others say that it only called for a great ranunga to decide the question Avhether it should be peace or war. Telegrams from Napier state that the greater part of the Ngatiporou who were proceeding to "Wanganui to the East Coast, have refused to go on. H.M.S. Challenger, which left for Sydney yesterday, returned last night, in consequence of bad weather. She continues at anchor, and is said to be detained by the Government.
