A true bill was found by the Grand Jury against the "Whaka native wbo was charged in the Supreme Court with the murder of Frederick Korncrop, a Danish pedlar, at Manawata, two months ago. The trial, however, was postponed until Friday, Judge Johnson having insisted upon the Government finding counsel for the defence. The trial resulted in his being convicted of the murder, and he was sentenced to be hanged.
