LARGE DAM, situated on the Caledonian Terrace, known as Stewart and party's dam, which caused damages which they had to pay soundly for, and are likely to have the dose repeated if tbey do not dispose of it immediately. Therefore, the shareholders have come to the conclusion to dispose of it before the wet weather sets in, if possible. The dam is a substantial one, being puddled in the centre with two feet of clay, taken from fifty feet below the surface. The efficiency of the dam was proven in Court lately. The dam is capable of containing five sluice-heads of water pet <-i&y, iVuit is aiso capabxC o* discharging water at the rate of thirty sluice-heads por minute, or enough to swamp all Westport if continued for twenty-four hours, which an individual to whom it caused damage the last time it discharged itself voluntarily can testify. The dam is protected for everything but doing damage; that the purchaser will have to pay for according to the laws of the district. This is one of the finest and most remunerative specs ever offered to the public, as it will give the purchaser a chance of figuring in Court at any time the tailings washers should feel disposed to call on him with a writ from Court. The dam is guaranteed to pay good interest. Terms £9O, ready cash. N.B. —The shareholders will guarantee to purchasers two per cent, on all damages caused by the breaking away of the said dam, provided that the said damages do not exceed £SO per week. Address Archd.
