EXPORTS. Per Kennedy, for Nelson—l case bacon, Boyle j 40 tons coals, N. Edwards and Co. The steamers John Penn and Charles Edwird arrived in port on Saturday morning. They left Nelson together, and had h ' fine smooth-water. The John Penn, it is said, arrived first in the roadstead, with an advantage of half an hour. During her brief withti.e different Vast coast ports, and u:v'""w<Mif a thorough overhaul in the floating iluck at Port Chalmers. On her return trip she underwent examination by the Government Inspector of steamers, and is now in excellent trim in hull and engines. Both she aid the Charles Edward were detained in port l>y the rcugh i\ eat' er on .* aturday, but they sailed early on the tide on Sunday morning—the John Penn for Hokitika and the Charles -Edward for Greymoi th. On her next trip to Auckland, the John Penn takes the east coast route via Nelson, Wellington, Napitr, .and Poverty Bay. West Coast ports will thus be brought in more direct communica- " ti'on with the principal ports in the North Island, and transmission to vessels proceeding to Canterbury and Otago will be facilitated. ' The s.s. Murray left Ntlson on Sunday, and arrived here on Monday morning, having experienced favorable weather, but :i heavy sea She sailed for Greymouth last evening. • The brigantine Heron, Captain Brown, . from Melbourne, came to an anchor in the roadstead yesterday afternoon. She will probably be towed in by one of the first steamers from southern ports. • A fore-and-aft schooner, supposed to be : the Mary Van Every, from Dunedin, beat up to the roadstead yesterday evening. The owners of the Hero have also plac d the steamer Blackbird in the Sydney ami Auckland trade. ■•', TII3 Auckland schooner Swallow, from Lyttelton, has been totally wrecked at the Fiji Islands.
