NEW MINING ENTERPRISE.
A new gold-mining enterprise has been advertised in Victoria under the title of the " Clunes Estate Company," and the great success that has attended the operations of the New North Clunes Company, and others whose mines are in the same locality, will give considerable interest to this new undertaking. The Clunes Estate Compauy is being got up to purchase 4,530 acres of freehold land, a part of the well known Clunes station, and believed to be highly auriferous ; and alimg with this the company will obtain 700 acres of Crown lands also understood to bo auriferous, which the promoters of the new companv have applied for underlease. Eor the guidance of the investing public, a report by Mr Selsvyn is" published along with the prospectus, which places the prospects of the company in a very favorable light. It is to be observed, too, that the proprietors of the estate, in offering it to the public for mining purposes, show that they have great confidence in its mineral richness, for their proposal is to receive £20,000 of the purchase-money in paid-up shares in the company. The price to be charged is £65,000 — about £l3 9s per acre ; but the land will be the property of the new company, and other portions of the same estate have fetched from £lO to £l2 per acre for agricultural purposes.
