POST OFFICE SAVINGS' BANK
The New Zealand Gazette, of March "5t publishes the following regulations foi" t banks as above newly established at Chri church, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Timaru, Akra Hokitika, Greymouth, Waimate, Westpo and Charleston. ' 1. Interest at he rate of 5 per cent i annum is given on sums less than £2OO • the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on tui over £500; and in the same proportion i any shorter time on every complete £l< posited, provided that no interest be allow on more than £SOO. 2. Depositors in the Post Office Savin; Banks have direct Government Security the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any one of the Post Offi Banks can continue his deposits at any otfc of such Banks, and can withdraw his mon at that Post Office Bank which is most co venient to him, 4. The strictest secresy is observed wi respect to the names of depositors in Pc Office Banks, and the amounts of their c possits. 6. Money may be deposited by or on 1 half of minors. Depositors over seven yes of age are treated as persons of full age, b minors under seven years of age cannot wit draw their deposits until they have reach the age of seven. 7. Applications to the Chief Office in ea Province on the business of Post Office Sa mgs Banks, and the replies sent thereto a free fron c.iarge or postage.
