BRIGHT STREET WHARF.

The following are published in the Provincial Gazette, as the conditions under which Mr D. M'Leod has obtained permission to construct a wharf at Bright Street, Westport:— Daniel M'Leod, of Westport, is hereby authorised, under the pro visions of Section XIII. of the Geldfields Act, 1866, to construct a wharf 40 feet long and 30 feet broad, opposite Bright-street, Westport, and to charge not exceeding the undermentioned tolls for a period of five years from this date on the following terms snd conditions, viz:— 1. The wharf shall be completed within three months from this date, and shall be maintained in good repair during the time of this protection.

2. The wharf shall be subject to the provisions of the Harbor Regulations which may from time to time be in force in the River Buller. 3. The sum of Five pounds sbali be paid annually to the Warden of the District by the Lessee. 4. Should the Government coasider it necessary for the construction of protective works, or for any other public purpose, the Superintendent shall have power to cancel this protection at any time; and the Lessee shall in that case be paid the value of the wharf at the time of such cancellation, but the Leesee shall not bo entitled to compensation beyond the actual value of the structure, which shall be ascertained in the usual way. 5. This protection shall not be transferred without the sanction of the Superintendent.

6. The Warden of the District shall have power, on being satisfied that the wharf is not in a good state of repair or that any of the above conditions have been violated, to suspend the operation of this protection until tbe matter of complaint be removed, or the protection cancelled. The following is the schedule of tolls authorised : Landing or Shipping. Goods, per ton 2 6 Horses, each 5 0 Cat 'le, each 4 0 Sheep, first 40, each 0 3 „ over 40, each 0 2 Packages and parcels notexceeding live cubic feet ... 0 6 Vessels Lying Alongside. ITul exceeding 20 tons, p<~\diem 0 10 0 Vessels over 20 tons, per diem 1 0 0 If any vessel lying alongside the wharf shall receive or discharge goods or stock otherwise than from or upon the wharf, half wharfage may be charged on all s>uch goods or stock so received or discharged.
