TTT"Fm*) a -y (Before J. Giles, Esq., E. M.) Julia Lewis was charged, with drunkenness, using profane, abusive, and obscene language in Wallabi Street, and otherwise disturbing the residents in that street by throwing stones at their houses.
The prisoner said she had nothing to say to the charges, hut that she was " very conthrary when she drank." The Inspector of Police said the prisoner was a habitual drunkard, and this would be the third time she had been convicted of drunkenness during
the past few months. The residents in Wallabi Street were constantly coining to the Camp makiDg|complaints about her. Several residents were called but did not appear. The Inspector of Folic,© said the parties would not now appear, and he thought they were scarcely entitled to the assistance of the Police when they did not appear when called upon to substantiate their charges.' The prisoner was fined 10s, with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment, and was sentenced to seven day's imprisonment, in consequence of this being the third conviction within the past few months. W. Pickering and W. Munday, for neglecting to have horses which they were riding sufficiently under command, were each fined 40s. CIVIL CASES. Owen O'Neill sued Charles Lyons for £26 2s, alleged damage sustained by the plaiutiif in having 1054 cabbages destroyed by the defendant's fowls. It was proved that fowls belonging to Mrs. King, besides cattle, pigs, calves, and geese belonging to the plaintiff, were in the habit of trespassing on the ground containing the cabbage. The Court assessed the damages committed by the defendant's fowls, and gave judgment for ,£lO and costs.
