The John Penn, M. Carey, commander, left ()nehunga on Wednesday evening lust; arrived at Wanganui on Friday, at 5 o'clock a.m.; sailed again on Sunday, at 8 o'clock; and arrived in the roadstead on Monday afternoon ; and came alongside the wharf early yesterday morning. She will sail for Greymouth and Hokitika this morning at 10 o'clock. The Amy Robsart, bound for Melbourne, with a cargo of maize, has put in to Sydney in a damaged condition. The schooner Plying Squirrel has gone ashore near Quecnseliff. All efforts to release her had so lav been unsuccessful. Tiro captain and mate of the Anna Walsh have been arrested at Newcastle for shooting the ship's cook. His injuries arc not of a serious nature. | • The schooner Tyne, a regular trader between Wanganui and Wellington, has been wrecked inside Wellington Heads, with 60 b des of wool on board. A telegram received yesterday by Mr Pa.ton, agent of the Waipara, states that that steamer, which had arrived at Hokitika from Okarita on Monday, still remained there. It was added that there was a heavy fresh in the river.
