The following is a mixed summary, of events not referred to in the brief telegram of European news which was first received on the arrival of the Suez mail:—Sir Eoger D. Tichborne has sailed from Southampton for Rio de Janiero. President Johnston, of America, visits England in March. Further Murphyite disturbances have occurred in Manchester. Four more accidents took place on the Holyhead Railway; mail trains coming into collision with goods trains. One-half of the preliminary expenses of the Channel Eailway Bridge is subscribed by the French. Potato riots have occurred in Cork and Sligo. See Saw is the winner ef the Derby. Cicil won Cezarewitch Stakes. Snowdrop won the Great Eastern Handicap. A firework explosion took place at Barnsley, by which seven persons were killed. Jeff. Davis resides in London. £3OOO have been subscribed to endow the Bishopric of New Zealand. A Russian frigate, the Alexander Ncwski, was lost off Jutland. The Grand Duke Alexis was on board, and five persons were drowned. Fenian papers were seized at Birmingham revealing a whole conspiracy. Mr Gladstone has suffered from English cholera, but is now recovered. Lord Napier has been invested with the freedom of the Citv of Edinburgh. At Hull, an eight-story building fell, burying forty I persons, of whom nine were killed. The Chinese Embassy has arrived in London from New York. Another accident took place on the North Western Railway ; the Rugby engine and two carriages left the rails. Two persons were killed and five wounded. A fatal boiler explosion took place at Moxley Steel "Works, near Bilston. Fifteen persons were killed. A boat, containing five men, was capsized at Westminister Bridge, and four were drowned. The P. and O. steamer Syria ran down the Oowes pilot boat; all on board perished. A suit has been commenced in the United States by the owners of the Sonora against Mr Laird, builder of the Alabama, for 119,000 dollars. A tidal wave appeared in Japan on the 15th August. A conspiracy has been discovered at Constantinople to dethrone the Sultan. The Britishship Tom Volker was blown up by naptba ; seven persons perished. The Deaf and Dumb Congress at Berlinhavediscoveredanewalphabet. An earthquake occurred at Constantinople on the 17th September. A monument has been erected to Alexander 111., at Burntisland, Fifeshire. At a representation of the seige of Magdala, at Astley's, the fireworks expfoded, and two soldiers were wounded. Surat, charged with the murder of President Lincoln, has been discharged. Several earthquakes have occurred at San Francisco. The City Hall and several buildings were destroyed. The Indian war continues. Fifty troops were scalped at the outposts on the Republican river. Fires are raging in the forests of California ; two hundred square miles of timber are destroyed. The steamer Hippocampus was lost on the Canadian Lakes. All on board perished, numbering 50. There have been disturbances of tribes in the north-west of India; two tribes were dispatched to restore order. Nearly the whole of Upper India is suffering unusual drought, while in Calcutta, more than the usual quantity of rain has fallen. Several fires have occurred at Shanghai, and much native property destroyed. The Chefoo gold-diggings give a moderate yield ; no great finds are reported.
