WESTPORT. ABBIVALS. Sea Bird, brigantine, from Melbourne, in the roadstead. The brigantine Sea Bird, from Melbourne, arrived oft' the port yesterday, and we believe that the steamer Lioness has been telegraphed for, to tow her in. Steamers or sailing vessels carrying passengers are now compelled to have gangways, with double side-rails, when alongside a pier, with proper steps to the deck, and a light ■burning all night. Penalty £SO. The ship John Banyan has arrived at Nelson from London, after a passage of one hundred and two days. H.M.S. Blanche, which has arrived at Wellington, from Sydney, is a composite built vessel, and is fitted with all the most recent improvements and inventions in the way of armament. She carries six guns of heavy calibre—her small arms being the Snider rifle—with the usual amount of pistols and side arms ; she is of 1268 tons burthen, with engines of 358 horse-power, and carries a complement of 180 hands all told.
