NEW GOLDFIELDS RULES.

Published Without any Authoeity. (By Tom o'Bedlam) iNTEBPBETATIO'N CLAUSE. The word mine shall mean anything that docs not belong to anyone else. The word claim shall mean anything that any one else likes to ask for. The word minOb shall apply to all persons over 21 years old resident on the gold fields. The word person shall include women as well as minors. The singular number shall include the plural number, and the masculine gender shall embrace the feminine gender. ETTLES. Paddocking.—No person shall make a paddock wlio is not the holder of an Agricultural Lease. Shepherding.—ls strictly forbidden to anyone who is not the holder of a Pastoral License. Quaetz Claims.—Shall only be held under a Publican's License, and shall be in all cases subject to the approval of the Warden, assisted if necessary by assessors. Whim.—Every person shall work his claim according to these regulations, and not according to his own whim. Delving.—No person shall be entitled to take a drive through any claim, unless he has two shafts and a whip. _ Pace.—Shall as a general rule bo carried on over the turf, and shall be duly registered; but any native race may bo put under the turf, either boxed or not, without registration. Jumping.—lf any person jump into a wet claim he shall remain there until bailed out. Cradles.—Married men only allowed to use them as claims may arise demanding the introduction of such machinery. Striking Lead.—lf any person strike a lead and break it, he shall be bound over to keep the peace. Wages Man.—A shareholder may put on a wages' man at any time and put off anybody else. Fees.—No person shall do anything on the Goldfields without the payment of Pees, which the Warden is authorised to recover in any feasible manner. Dams.—These should be used sparingly, and only in extreme cases. There is, however, an exception to this rule, viz., when they aie applied to the Maori race. Special Area.—Shall denote any area inhabited by a cook who is not on speaking terms with the constable of the beat. Pumping and Draining. —No man shall pump another without giving notice, but any man can take a drain of anything he likes. Suits.—Commenced by tailors in the Warden's Courts shall be finished there ; and if the Watden does not like the cloth or it does not fit him, it shall be given to the clerk who shall wear it on courtdays.
