VESTRY MEETING.
A vestry meeting was held yesterday evening, there being present the Rev. Mr Harvey, Messrs Whiteford, Tyler, Parry, Morrison, and Winstanley. The minutes of last meeting having been read and confirmed, Mr Winstanley, as treasurer, presented a statement of the proceeds and expenditure connected with the concert held on July 30th, for the puprose of raising funds to pay for the harmonium, the balance amounting to £ll 75., having been paid over to Mr Harvey for that purposo.
Ttie Church warden placed before the vestry a statement up to date, of the receipts and expenditure conuected with the services of the Church of England, at Westport, by which it was shown that the sum of the collections, up to the nresent time is £2 less than the amount required to meet the liabilities of the parish, up to the 31st. August.
Mr Harvey stated that an allowance of £l5O would be contributed out of the funds of the Society for the proPropogation of the Grospefor the year 1869, towards the maintenance of an ordained minister in this district, provided that the sum of £2OO was added thereto by the parishes in which he officiated.
Mr Tyler moved, and Mr Parry seconded : —" That Mr Harvey be empowered by the vestry to carry out in his ensuing visit to Charleston the suggestion made by (the Bishop of Nelson in connection with the services and stipend of the minister for the ensuing six months, it being the opinion of the vestry that such an arrangement is desirable."
Moved by Mr Winstanley and seconded by Mr Morrison :—" That the vestry be formed into a committee for the purpose of collecting contributions to form a fund, to be expended when it shall reach the necessary amount, in the erection of a Church in Westport.
