i Hokitika, Thursday. The new channel isjmpassable. Tenders'are invited for 3500 sand bags for filling up the south channel. An influential meeting was held yesterday, at the Duke of Edinburgh Theatre to consider the financial scheme of the Government, as far as its relation to Weatland went. The
ollowing resolution was carried : 'That this meeting begs to protest against the consolidation of the Provincial debts unless the same embodies an equitable adjustment of the debts between the different provinces and the County ofWestland. • A committee was appoiuted to draw up a memorial embodying the above resolution. Another meeting was also held, to consider the question of the Waste Land Board in reference to the sale of the "Waste Lands, and resolutions condemnatory of the Board were passed. There have been neither arrivals nor departures to-day.
