Transhipped ex Ballarat, from London, under bond for Westport —5o boxes candles, 5 cases sauce, 5o cases brandy, 5 cases soda, N. Edwards and Co., I cask, Smith and Co. The s.s. Beautiful Star left Dunedin on the 28th ultimo, and may be expected to put in •an appearance to-day. The steamer Gothenburg passed yesterday, steering south. The s.s. Waipara left Wanganui on Friday morning, and came into the river with Saturday morning's tide. She brings some coals besides other cargo. The p.s. Nelson, Captain Dillon, left Nelson at 9 p.m. on Friday, and Motueka at II p.m. She arrived outside the Duller bar at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday, thus making the run down in about eighteen hours. She is newly painted, &c, and will be a formidable opponent to the fast boats now trading to the •coast. The s.s. Wallabi left Wanganui on Friday at 10.30 p.m. She experienced a strong south east breeze during the run through the Straits, and came outside the bar at one a.m. yesterday. The John Penn left Hokitika at twelve o'clock on the sth instant, with ninety passengers ; called off the Grey, and took on board from the Persevere six passengers and fifty six sheep; called at Fox's and landed one passenger, and came up to the Buller bar about eleven o'clock. She passed the Kennedy yesterday between the Grey and Hokitika bound for the latter port.
The Mary Cumming went ashore on Saturday at Hokitika and was not off up to the time the Penn left, but -was expected to float ■Jbjytha* tido.
