ADDISON'S FLAT.
NEW GROUND OPENED. (FROM OUR OWIf CORRESPONDENT.) I atn glad to inform you that some of the parties who were disappointed in tracing the rich lead now working at the north end of the Shamrock, farther south than the present claims on good gold, have struck about five feet of good payable washdirt, to the west of M'lntyre and party's claim, and farther out into the flat, at the depth of nearly thirty feet from the surface. They are now driving the second shaft to drain the water from the drives., while they get up their stuff through the first driven shafts. Vizard and party have been particularly fortunate in this, and they well deserve their success, as they have been at heavy expense in two former claims which they took up, and were compelled to abandon, having failed to trace the lead-.
Malony and party have nearly completed the erection of a splendid water wheel about twenty feet in diameter, and have got on the ground some of the most approved pumping-machinery, manufactured and tested iu Nelson, to which their water-wheel is to be attached. In appearance it is perfectly capable of driving to the fullest power that can be required. A law case between Hunter and party and Nicholls and party is likely to come off, Mr Coe, the mining surveyor, having on survey determined that an encroachment of the former on the latter has been made. It is to be be hoped that they will wisely arrange the matter, as I before suggested, between themselves, and avoid the expense of law proceedings. The new road to the Shamrock from Addison's is making favourable progress, but sadly requires draining at the Shamrock Terrace. The crossing of the road at the river is almost impossible to get over from large boulders existing in the bed of the river, and when there is the slightest fresh, which very often happens, it is equally unsafe for pedestrians, in fact it is impossible now to do without a bridge at this place, which it is hoped that the new district engineer will soon see the necessity of, for himself if he pays a visit to the ground I am \ sure he will have the work done.
The following bankruptcy cases come on to-day for final hearing ; J. Godfrey, H. G. p. Neea, T. W. Melville, Brown and Lissuer, ,T. H. Decy, J. Sykes, T. P. Finn, Harris and Moss, and J. Lofty.
