THE ATHENÆUM.
(To if* Editor of the Westport Times and Charleston Argus) Sir,— Finding that you have leported the last Athenian meeting in a very curt manner; and that the Rev. Mr. Harvey is there mentioned aa having been appointed in my stead to collect for the institution. I would be obliged by your allowing me to add my motives for declining to take any part in the collection.—They are, simply that I felt hound to insist in giving authentic receipts to every subscriber who favored me with his subscription. This was thought unnecessary by some other members of the Committee, consequently I refused to act. I am, &c, &c. E. Gh O'Conob.
