SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.
PORT OF WESTPORT. nrair water. This Day ... 2.31 a.m., 2.55 p.m. ARRIVALS. June 11- — Murray, s.s., Holmes, from Nelson. DEPARTURES. June ll—Charles Edward, p.s., Palmer, for ftreymonth. N. Edwards and Co., agents. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Nightingale, from Melbourne. John Pcnn, from Nelson. Kennedy, from Nelson. Bruce, from Hokitika. Wallabi, from Wanganui. VESSELS TN TOUT. Ketches—Maty, Young America, Soa Breeze, Constant. Schooners —Ada, Enterprise! (on the spit), Crest of the Wave. Steamers—Beautiful Star, Murray. The Murray left Nelson at 11 o'clock on Tuesday night last, and met -with strong breezes all down the coast. Arrived off the bar at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, but on account of the thick weather and a nasty sea that was running stood off and on till 1 p.m. yesterday, when she crossed the bar in excellent style, and came up to the wharf. During Wednesday night, Captain Holmes says, there was a fearful sea on, and when he took the bar there was a tumbling sea that was anything but pleasant. Tho Murray brings a full cargo of produce. The schooner Enterprise on Wednesday last took up bcr quarters on the South Spit, in the immediate vicinity of the Ada, but there is every probability of her being got off without great difficulty as soon as the weather moderates. She is certainly a rather unlucky craft, for she has only just come off a beach trip down south. The Charles Edward was announced to go south by the night's tide, but as she would not leave in any case till we went to press, we cannot say whether she proceeded to sea or not. The Duller bar is in excellent condition, and the Murray, notwithstanding the heavy tresh, had no difficulty in entering. At the Grey and Hokitika wo fear the same good report cannot be made, but the rain tliat has fallen will cause freshes that must scour out new channels, even if the old ones are filled up by tho heavy seas of late. The schooner Mary could not show up yesterday, and it was fortunate for her passengers, amongst whom were some ladies, that the Bruce was able to land them on Tuesday night. It is to be hoped on her return that no further delay will occur, for it is already nearly three weeks since she dropped anchor in the roadstead.
