RESIDENT MAGISTRATES' COURT CHARLESTON.
"Wednesday, May 27. (Before Chas. Broad, Esq.,B.M.) Richard Kerr, charged with being drunk and disorderly, allowed his bail of £1 to be forfeited. William Cook for the same offence was fined William Harris pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct, and was fined 10s. Jtftrfielas Marloio, charged with the same offence, did not appear, and his bail of £2 was forfeited. George Clarke pleaded guilty to a charge of being drunk and disorderly, and was fined 10s. CIVIL CASES. Skoglund and Purcell v. Mrs Taylor. Claim, £2 10s , balance of account. The defence was, never indebted, and proof was given that the articles charged for were supplied to defendant's daughter, Mrs Stanton. Plaintiff nonsuited. Same v. Hay. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount claimed, and lis. costs.
Same v. Carroll. Claim £2. Judgment by default for plaintiff. Same v. Mliot. Claim, £i lis 9d. Defendant admitted receiving the goods, but denied his liability for the whole amount, a few of the items being got by him according to instructions he had received from the Demonstration Committee. His Worship said he must give judgment for the full amount; defendant would have his remedy against the others. In the following cases, judgment was given for the plaintiffs by default, with costs in each case : Munson and Tyrroill v. Morgan, £2. Allen Brothers v. Same, £2 3s 6d. Same v. Mrs C JDonoghue, £2 9s 6d. Same v. Hugh Homer, .£25 Is 2d. Shepherd and Co. v. JBucMandvt Miss Weir, £3 16s 6d. Colreavg v. Paul. This was a claim of £1 195., balance of account for board. Judgment given for 19s. APPLICATIONS FOR PUBLICAN'S LICENSES Harry Mann. No appearance. J. "Rochfort. No appearance. James Jones. Renewal granted. Denis O'Sullivan. No appearance.
