Br Electric Telegraph. (FROM THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD). MELBOURNE. Monday, May 4. Mr Drummond, Police Magistrate of Daylesford, on Friday night, at nine o'clock, permitted himself to be bitten by one of Shires' snakes; afterwards Shires applied his antidote to the wound ; Mr Drummond took ill, but slightly recovered, and then went home ; he, however, became worse, and died on Saturday night at nine o'clock. Shires has been arrested, and the inquest is proceeding. The Queen has vetoed the bill for reducing the salary of the Governor. Mr Sladen has gone to Toorak to submit a list for a new Administration, and final conditions to the Governor.

Seven hundred chests teas, medium, realised Is 9d. per lb. •Another Art Union lottery, for the disposal of an estate near Ballarat, has bee*a advertised. The National Bank has declared a dividend of 10 per cent., with a bonus of one shilling per share. The retiring directors have been re-elected.
