The Royal Sponsor.—The Queensland Guardian has the following:—"The first native born Australian honored with a Royal sponsor we presume to be the infant daughter of Mr Charles Eden, who was christened on Wednesday, at St. John's Church. H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh was the godfather, and was represented on the occasion by his Excellency Colonel O'Connell. The limited time at bis Royal Highness's disposal during his visit to Queensland did not allow of his officiating in person as he intended. Mr Eden was formerly a lieutenant in the navy, and for a long time a messmate of the Prince's. We understand that before leaving, his Royal Highness requested the Government, as a personal favor, to give his old friend Mr Eden a Government appointment."
