A paper in OasselVs Magazine indicates a strange analogy between the age of men and the age of ships. Many perish almost at their birth; during the last few years no less than 1185 newly-built ships having been wrecked in their first voyages ; whilst others, bearing as it were a charmed life, survive to ninety or a hundred years — there being four on Lloyd's list that are more than one hundred years old. The clergy of the city of Limerick have signed a document declaring that there can be no permanent peace in Ireland until it is treated like Hungary. It is said that 1, 250, 000 dol. has been offered for the New York Hearld by the proprietor of the Philadelphia Ledger, Mr. G.W. Childs. It is proposed to establish a " temperance hospital" in London, "where the sick may be cured without the aid of alcoholic drinks."
A woman in Prhvidence, Rhode Island (U.S.), refused to marry her lover on the verry day assigned for the wedding because he had shaved off his moustache. A policeman in' Nashville (U.S.) knockod down the mayor of that city lately.
